Flagstone/stone on top of concrete?

We have a concrete patio 25 years old. It has two surface cracks and one deeper one that we repaired by sanding down and filling. The soil below is adobe. We'd like to cover the concrete with stone, but are aware that we don't know if the original concrete is reinforced in any way. We have heard of "Latex modified thinset" as a base then trowel it - then put on the stones on top. We are concerned about movement (northern California & the cracks already in the patio) - so, should we just sledge hammer out the concrete and start over(ugh) or can we move forward? We will likely hire someone to do the work, but we'd like a heads up on how to talk about it so we don't get the wrong information. Any help will be delightful. There are no Lowes/Home Depots near us to ask these questions to. Thanx !

Seedlings sprouting pre-maturely where the rest hasn't?

Some seeds just sprout earlier. Most of my plants say 7-14 days on the packets but some sprouted as early as 3 days if the conditions were right. There is nothing wrong with this happening and is quite normal.

Mock pear roots sprouting leaves everywhere?

We have a mock pear tree in our yard and its roots are sprouting what looks like little trees all over around it. My question is how on earth do I get rid of them? They are horrible! I keep cutting them down and in no time they grow right back up. I would try spraying them with something but I'm afraid of killing my tree in the process. I currently have about a 6 foot ring of mulch around the trunk. Thats about 8 to 10 inches deep. Which, by the way, they even sprout up through that!

Should journalists cave in to Israel on this?

If Israel attack or even force this flotilla to stop in international waters it will be another act of piracy . Something Israel do not want to be seen and filmed doing . The blockade itself is an illegal act by Israel which they well know . This is why they are trying to use the excuse that weapons may be on these ships. Having the worlds press on board scares these pirates which is why they are now trying to threaten and scare them off. Israel do not and never will rule the waves which is why I suggested in an earlier question that this flotilla should have a navel escort. Israel may be good at attacking unarmed ships (USS Liberty) Taking on a couple of frigates would make them think twice. I am not suggesting an escort should act in an aggressive way but only intervene if Israel tries to board these ships or tries to use force to stop the flotilla.
