Tree Sprouts Everywhere!?!?

My Mom bought this stupid tree a few years back not knowing that it would spread. It has taken over her entire yard! It really is awful! I want to kill the entire root system so that it stops spreading. I know it will kill the tree, but I will plant a different tree in its place. Help me out!
